Stefanie Schmitt

Trade Policy, Trade Negotiations


Ms. Schmitt advocated for more than 6 years on behalf of the Brazilian industry in matters of international trade and foreign economic relations. At the Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP) she assisted business stakeholders concerned by international trade negotiations, such as the Doha Round. At the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), she was in charge of the Business Diplomacy Area, being responsible for the secretariat of the Brazil Sections of the Brazil-U.S. and BRICS Business Councils as well as other business initiatives. At CNI, she worked mainly with policy formulation and decision-making support. Stefanie also did internships at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva; and at U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in Washington, DC. In 2007, she attended a Summer Program on World Trade Organization Studies, at the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales, in Geneva, and in 2014, she did a Mastering Trade Policy Specialization Course, promoted by Apex-Brasil, with the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard. She is currently responsible for the development of trade policy studies and position papers at UNO. .
