Global Cases

UNO has a proven track record in defending exporters in antidumping investigations, delivering strategic and sustainable outcomes in key markets:

Brazilian Exporters
In the first case where UNO represented Brazilian exporters facing an antidumping investigation in the United States, the wood mouldings industry achieved a zero dumping margin. This marked the only instance where Brazil avoided the imposition of antidumping duties in an original investigation, permanently freeing the industry from such measures. In Turkey's first antidumping case against Brazil, involving kraft paper, UNO represented Klabin and secured the lowest antidumping duty among all investigated exporters. Five years later, the measure was not renewed. When China launched an antidumping investigation against Brazil's poultry exports, UNO represented Seara/JBS and secured the lowest antidumping duty among all investigated exporters. Five years later, the measure was not renewed.

South Korean Exporters
With participation in 31 investigations involving South Korea, UNO has directly contributed to the reduction of the number of Brazilian antidumping measures in force against the country, which are now limited to only five – a direct result of its technical and strategic efforts.

Indian Exporters
Since UNO began representing Indian exporters in Brazilian trade remedies investigations, it has contributed to removing barriers to bilateral trade by reducing margins in sunset reviews and securing the full elimination of measures, such as in the cases of grinding media balls and textured polyester yarns. In the latter, UNO secured a two-year suspension of the measures based on public interest, ultimately enabling their definitive removal.

Indonesian Exporters
In all antidumping investigations involving Indonesian exports where UNO provided support, a 100% success rate was achieved. This includes cases terminated without measures for Stainless Steel and Acrylic Yarn, as well as securing very low dumping margins for all Indonesian exporters in the Viscose Yarn investigation. Furthermore, UNO successfully terminated the antidumping duty on Viscose Yarn during a subsequent sunset review.

Chinese Exporters
UNO has a well-established track record in defending Chinese exporters in trade remedies investigations, with a consistent history of reducing margins and preserving access to the Brazilian market. In several cases, UNO secured the definitive removal of measures, such as in investigations involving ferrite magnets and socks. Additionally, UNO was a pioneer in several achievements for China in anti-dumping investigations in Brazil, securing individual margins for Chinese respondents, price undertakings, third-country questionnaires, changes in the surrogate country, among other success cases.

Other Notable Highlights

Experience in Subsidy Cases
UNO is the most experienced team in Brazilian subsidy investigations, participating in 13 of 15 cases over the past 15 years against China, India, and Indonesia, involving grinding media balls, PET film, fiber optic cables, aluminum sheets and foil, stainless steel, hot-rolled steel, acrylic yarn, and viscose yarn.

Experience in Public Interest Cases
UNO played a decisive role in major public interest cases conducted by the Brazilian government involving GNO steel, hot-rolled steel, polyester yarn, and coarse salt.
